Become a Glenapp Ranger

Suitable for children and adults, with a local forest Ranger, you will experience an exciting variety of fun filled activities throughout the Glenapp Estate.  You will make kites from recycled materials, build a campfire, hunt for mini beasts, with magnifying glasses to explore the small crawly life,  experience pond dipping to discover what lies within the Azalea pond and making a den with natural materials – what more could a child (or adult!) want.

Croquet

Grab a mallet and make your way to the beautifully manicured croquet lawn of Glenapp Castle, unleash your competitive side with a fun game for all the family.

French Boules

French Boules is a great way to get everyone together for some friendly competition. May the best player win! The game of boules, otherwise known as pétanque, is perhaps the sport that is closest to French hearts. Traditionally played beneath plane trees this can be enjoyed at Glenapp with glorious views over the iconic Ailsa Craig and beyond.

Quoits

The traditional game of Quoits has a long and venerable history dating back to ancient Greece. This ancient game is easy to play, in basic terms rope hoops are thrown at the wooden pins to accumulate points, the player with the most points wins! This can be played by adults and children. Think tactically and try to outsmart your opponent!

Tennis

Glenapp Castle's all-year tennis court is great fun for both children and adults alike find your "inner" Andy Murray and enjoy your Game, Set and Match. The tennis court is complimentary, and guests have access to all the Glenapp tennis equipment, automated ball machine or enjoy a private lesson to perfect the different strokes and skills needed to be a master of this fantastic sport.

Glenapp Beekeeping

Glenapp are proud to have their very own apiary nestled within the beautiful Estate that surrounds the Castle. Beekeeper Mark will help guests don headgear and overalls and discuss why beekeeping is a hugely important role within our immediate ecosystem. Guests will learn why production is so important, how to harvest honey and the role of each bee within the colony.

Horse Riding at Turnberry

Create lasting memories in the fresh Scottish air while enjoying the surrounds of wonderful scenery with horse riding at Turnberry Stables. Turnberry's very own beach with such a captivating coastline allows for invigorating rides and breath-taking views across the iconic Ailsa Craig and Isle of Arran. Guests can choose from a variety of activities including trekking, beach rides and lessons, making this a perfect day out for all the family to enjoy!

Kitchen Coos & Ewes

Kitchen Coos & Ewes offer farm tours and experiences where you can see Highland cows and Beltex sheep in their natural, farm environment in beautiful southwest Scotland. Tours are designed to help you get close to the Highland cattle from the safety and comfort of a purpose-built trailer – it’s basically a farmer-led Highland cow safari! Wind and watertight - and with padded seats – the farm tour trailer means you can experience a working Scottish farm and meet our Highlanders without even the need for wellies! Your tour will finish with a cuppa and some home baking fresh from the farmhouse kitchen.
