Glenapp Castle
Luxury Scottish Castle Wedding Venue

There can be no more magnificent setting for your wedding celebrations than this spectacular fairytale castle, set high on a hill looking out across the Irish Sea to the Isle of Arran, the Mull of Kintyre and the magical Ailsa Craig – The Fairy Rock.

The castle is open from mid-March until the 2nd January each year for individual guests and is available as a venue for exclusive use by groups, such as wedding parties, throughout the season except for Christmas and New Year.

Although located in a remote and beautiful part of the world, the castle is extremely accessible [click to view our location].

Prices for weddings are quoted individually.

Please contact Graham or Fay Cowan on 01465 831 212 or email info@glenappcastle.com.

Under Scottish Law, couples from anywhere in the world can be married in Scotland without having to be resident here.  A Minister of Religion can perform marriage ceremonies anywhere within the castle or the gardens and a Civil Registrar can marry couples at certain specified locations within the castle or in the gardens.

At Glenapp, we cater for weddings with more than six in the party on an exclusive use basis only, for a maximum of thirty-four guests, all of whom must stay at the castle for at least one night. We can, if required, offer dining and reception for a maximum of forty guests, with six of the party being accommodated elsewhere locally.  Regretfully, we cannot offer to host weddings for larger numbers than this, nor can we accommodate additional evening guests.

The wedding party will have the private use of the castle and our thirty-six acres of magnificent gardens and grounds for the duration of their stay.  Church of Scotland (Presbyterian) marriage ceremonies can be held in Glenapp Church, which is a beautiful little Victorian chapel on Glenapp Estate, approximately five and a half miles from the castle.  Alternatively a religious or civil ceremony can be conducted within the castle itself, or in the gardens.

We can provide you with contact information for our local ministers, or civil registrar, and we are happy to personally assist you with the arrangements for your wedding.  We can recommend professional photographers and wedding transport companies. We even have our own classic car – a 1954 Riley RME which can be used to transport you to the church.  Our florist will create floral arrangements, bouquets and buttonholes to your exact specifications.  We can recommend cake makers who will create wedding cakes of any style or design.  We can arrange for kilt and formal wear hire, with outfits delivered and collected from the castle. We can recommend musicians of any kind from a Scottish piper to a ceilidh to classical to jazz and disco.  We can arrange entertainers such as caricaturists, or magicians.  We are also able to arrange activities (click to activities page) such as golf on nearby championship or recreational courses, falconry displays or clay pigeon shooting in the castle grounds, loch and river fishing and, in the summer, boat trips to the island of Ailsa Craig.

We are very happy to welcome children to the castle, [click to Children at The Castle] especially as wedding guests.  Where children can share accommodation with adults, we provide roll-away beds and sofa beds, and they can then be accommodated in addition to the thirty four adult guests.  Children are welcome to dine with the adults, but they do then have to be included in the maximum number of forty guests we can dine.  To allow a full complement of adult dinner guests, we usually recommend that younger children are served an early dinner, and that childcare is then provided.

We are happy to accept one-night exclusive use reservations at the quieter times of our season, but we recommend that, if possible, wedding parties should stay for two nights.  We have found through experience that a stay of two nights is generally a much more leisurely and relaxed occasion, which also allows more opportunities for activities to be arranged for the guests.

Where a couple wish to be married at the castle, either alone, or with a maximum of four guests, we can, at quieter times of year, arrange this on a non-exclusive use basis, with a private ceremony being conducted in one of our suites or in the gardens.  Please contact us for further information.
