Local venue awarded highest food accolade for quality

The impressive food being served up at a local Ayrshire business has been recognised with a special award by the region’s official tourism organisation.

Glenapp Castle, near Ballantrae, has achieved an EatScotland Gold award from VisitScotland.

Glenapp Castle currently holds a five star accommodation rating from VisitScotland and has received this latest accolade in recognition of the quality of the food and overall dining experience available at the establishment.

A delicious, six course gourmet dinner, three course lunch and afternoon tea are available daily at Glenapp Castle and many guests enjoy a walk in the 36 acres of spectacular gardens during their visit.

Graham and I are truly delighted to receive this award on behalf of the kitchen team.  In the castle kitchens, we create our wonderful gourmet lunches and dinners using the very best ingredients that are available locally and throughout the season we have fruit, vegetables and herbs from the castle gardens.”

VisitScotland’s EatScotland food quality assurance scheme is a high profile Scottish food tourism initiative designed to recognise quality and excellence in all categories of eating establishments throughout Scotland. Venues range from tea rooms to take-aways, pubs to restaurants and is open to all businesses serving food and drink.

Food and drink are an important part of the tourism experience in Ayrshire & Arran adding to the reputation of the area and benefitting the local economy.
